In this article

Family trips to the US are usually filled with moments that you will never forget, providing you plan out your trip well and ensure that you do your research to avoid any disappointments or problems. Whilst travelling to the US is on the whole an amazing way to spend family time, there are some considerations to take into account before you book your trip.
Here are the pros and cons:

Cons

We’ll start off with the negatives, as it should give you an idea of what to beware of before you book anything.

Cost

Firstly, the cost of travelling to the US is not going to be cheap if you are travelling from the UK or Europe. Flights can be very expensive especially in peak times like school holidays. If you can be flexible with your dates then you might be able to find some reasonable flight prices.
The cost of hotels and dining out will also be fairly expensive and if you are planning on going to theme parks, you may need to save up for a while in order to afford the passes.

Temperature

The temperatures in the US vary greatly from one place to another and around different times of year. Make sure that you research the average temps for the area you are visiting at the time of year you are going.
f it is going to be really hot, you may not be able to do all of the things that you wanted to do, so booking at a cooler time of year might be better.

Flying with kids

Taking flights with kids can be stressful at the best of times, but when you are going for a longer flight then this can be even more problematic. Flying from London to LA takes over 11 hours,
so you need to prepare yourself for being on a plane for this length of time, especially if you have younger kids who are not great at flying for long periods.

Pros

Family memories

There are so many pros that it will be difficult to name them all but to start with there is the opportunity to have the holiday of a lifetime. You can make those unforgettable memories that you will remember for years to come.
Whether you visit famous landmarks, go to theme parks, or go on an adventure holiday in the US, your trip is sure to be filled with excitement and fun for all of the family. These are the moments you will all cherish forever.
English speaking
Sometimes travelling abroad can be made more difficult by not understanding the local language but in the US, the main language spoken is English,
so there shouldn’t be any issues trying to communicate with hotel staff, ordering food in restaurants etc.
Food costs
You can find some really good deals for eating out when you travel to the US in most tourist areas, which will help to keep your costs down.
Most areas will have large supermarkets too, so you can go self-catering to save money if you want to.
ESTA is straightforward
If you are travelling from a country that is part of the Visa Waiver Program then you will only require an ESTA as travel authorisation to enter the US. The process is very straightforward and you can apply for your family ESTA very quickly.
There are so many more pros when you start to look more closely at the places that you are visiting but make sure you do your research about your destination and check things like the weather, local laws, crime levels etc.
