Will I be informed by email if my application is successful?

In this article

No, you will not receive an email notification and you will need to check the status of your application online.

How the application process works

After you complete the ESTA form and submit it, along with the necessary payment, your application for authorization will be reviewed. This is done by checking your details against a number of databases containing persons who are not welcome or who are criminals in the U.S. When the review is complete, the status of your application will be updated accordingly.
The United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP) recommend applying for ESTA at least 72 hours before your flight, or when you book your ticket. However, an ESTA application can generally be completed and processed in much less time.
You will not be informed when the reviewing of your application is complete, no matter what the result is. Any email on this subject specifically purporting to be from the CBP doing so is fraudulent and should be reported to the CBP immediately.
If you would like to check up on the status of your ESTA, you can get in touch with us.
