family and friends in the US but from November 8 2021, the ban will be lifted for
vaccinated travelers. The previous announcement regarding the lifting of the ban

date confirmed, UK and EU citizens will be able to start making plans for

Who will be able to visit US from 8 November?

Which vaccines are accepted in the US?
While this has not been formally confirmed yet, it is expected that people who
have had EMA-approved vaccines will be able to enter the US. Although the
AstraZeneca vaccine has not been approved by the FDA yet, it is expected that
this will still be on the list of approved vaccines. A large proportion of the UK
population have had the AstraZeneca vaccine.
The vaccines that have been approved by the FDA are Moderna, Pfizer and Janssen
and it has been confirmed that one dose of these will be sufficient to allow
travel to the US.
The Sinopharm, Sinovac and Covishield vaccinations have been approved by the WHO,
but it is not expected that these will be accepted for travel into the US at this
point until they are approved by the FDA.
What about mixed vaccinations?
A question that many EU travelers have been asking is whether a combination of
vaccinations will be accepted as full vaccination status. Across the EU, many
people have had a combination of the AstraZeneca and Pfizer vaccination, so this
affects a large volume of people.
A spokeswoman from the CDC confirmed that mixed vaccinations would be accepted as
full vaccination status. She said: “While CDC has not recommended mixing types
of a vaccine in a primary series, we recognise that this is increasingly common
in other countries so should be accepted for the interpretation of vaccine
The news that travel is allowed for fully vaccinated travelers from the UK and EU
to enter the US has resulted in a large number of bookings to visit over the
festive period. Australia is also opening up the borders to fully vaccinated
travelers from 1 November, a huge step for helping the travel industry to recover
from a dismal 18 months.
